Clothing: Don't forget to suit up when you head out for a duck hunt. Duck season is set up to hunt in the winter months so dress accordingly. If it is going to be really cold taking a propane heater with you in the blind can make a real difference.
Make decoys attractive: Dirty decoys do not fool ducks as well as clean ones. Hang them on a fence, spray with vehicle tire cleaning agent and dry it for overnight. Thus you can retain the original color and brightness of decoys. It may sound funny but those soaps are environmentally safe and they will really help you when cleaning large numbers of decoys. More than likely they have been dirty since you last used them, a quick bath can improve your chances.
Arrange dry storage area: Dry storage boxes are sole at most hunting stores, try to think about what you will want that can't get wet when you are hunting. Put things in it that are essentials, a first aid kit might sit in there for a long time but when you need it you will be glad to have it. You can also use it for storing matches, shells, spare clothes, snacks or make it a great seat.
Use a decoy pole: this is a good way to draw bird’s attention to your decoys. Fishing poles, Goose flags and kites are the ideal ones to try out.
Create mud: If you are hunting in clear water, stir it up with your feet. Ducks can easily spot, and are attracted to muddy zones. So, it is better to muddy around your decoys. Bet you didn't know that one.
